An “audibly crying” Pennsylvania man called 911 Saturday to report the deadly stabbing of a woman who had hired him to babysit her child.
Lavrius Watson, 26, told responding officers that shortly after midnight, he had shared a marijuana cookie with 41-year-old Elizabeth Bennett Leonard before he went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife.
The suspect claimed that he suffered adverse reactions to the drug when he stabbed Leonard multiple times, killing her. The woman’s 10-year-old child was also at home at the time of the incident.
When police first arrived at the scene, they found Watson covered in blood and talking to himself: “Why did I do that?”
He is being held at the Luzerne County Prison without bond on criminal homicide charges.
