‘No excuse for it’: Drunk driver rear-ends car with flat tire, killing couple and unborn son

A pregnant mom-of-four was tending to her boyfriend as he fixed a flat tire on his way to work early Saturday morning when an intoxicated driver rear-ended their car, killing the couple and their unborn son.

The tragedy unfolded on State Highway 360 near the Arlington-Mansfield border when a drunk Hermosillo Garcia rear-ended the parked car of Justin Eric Dike and his girlfriend Alexius Mills, both 28, triggering a chain-reaction crash that also involved a third vehicle.

  • Dike died at the scene while Mills was rushed to the hospital where her baby was delivered alive before they both passed.

    “She loved everybody, would do anything in the world for you,” Mills’ mom said. Her sister added that the mom was studying nursing, was “full of life, beautiful and smart.”

    “There is no excuse for it, to get behind the wheel when you’ve been drinking. There is no excuse to take someone’s life like that.”
