4 Connecticut officers, two women crash into stationed car in suspected DUI incident that left 1 officer dead

Four New Haven Police officers and two San Francisco women were in a car that crashed in Las Vegas early Friday morning, killing one cop.

The accident occurred at around 4 a.m. Friday when drunk Officer Robert Ferraro, 34, crashed the 2020 Rolls Royce he was driving into a parked vehicle.

The impact of the collision caused one of his four passengers to get ejected from the vehicle. He was later identified as NHP officer Joshua Castellano, 35, and pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

“In the academy, you knew that Josh had the thing, the thing that’s not teachable,” Police Chief Renee Dominguez said of the late sever-year veteran.

    The officer who was behind the wheel was charged with driving under the influence, resulting in death, and reckless driving resulting in death.

    He was placed on leave with pay and released on bond under the condition of staying out of trouble, intoxication, and wearing a monitoring device.
