Los Angeles deputy killed in high-speed car crash while off-duty

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was pronounced dead at the scene of a tragic crash Thursday morning, authorities confirmed.

Deputy Cameron Fish, 33, was reportedly speeding before losing control of the vehicle and crashing into a pole in Temple City, northeast Los Angeles.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Deputy Cameron Fish,” the sheriff’s department stated on Twitter.

    The CHP added that the off-duty deputy was thrown out of his 1960s Shelby Cobra after veering onto the center median and hitting the light pole. A woman, who was a passenger in the car, sustained severe injuries.

    “The impact caused Fish to be ejected from his vehicle. It is unknown if either of the occupants were wearing seatbelts or if alcohol and drugs are a factor in this crash.”
