Florida authorities are looking for a 39-year-old man accused of slaughtering his elderly adoptive mom and burying her body in a nearby field.
Polk County Sheriff’s deputies initially responded to Perfecta Paz Paz’s home after her sister noticed that the woman vanished and her adoptive son, Aroldo Paz, had packed all his belongings and left the residence.
“We’re on the side of the road because, with the initial information that we received, we believe that maybe she’s wandered off,” Sheriff Grady Judd said. “So we search the woods.”
But while looking in nearby fields, detectives spotted a “soft” area amid “recently disturbed soil” once they dug a hole, they found Paz’s slipper.
“She died a violent death. A violent death,” Judd said adding that the 74-year-old victim and the suspect had not been “getting along and they were always fighting with each other.”
“He couldn’t do anything right. She just nagged him and nagged him and nagged him,” after he lost his job. “Apparently, according to Aroldo, from what we see in evidence, he finally did away with Perfecta.”
