As a 21-year-old Good Samaritan tended to a critically injured man laying on the street, a thief was carjacking his vehicle that he left running near the scene Tuesday night.
St. Paul Police said that at around 11 p.m., the young man stopped after seeing a 31-year-old stabbing victim bleeding on the street, with his carotid artery cut off.
The passerby called 911 and requested emergency help after learning the victim was stabbed amid a fight that started on a light rail.
But as the Good Samaritan talked with the dispatcher, he spotted someone behind the wheel of his car and tried to intervene only to get run over by the carjacker.
When first responders arrived, both men were in need of treatment. Police said that they still didn’t make an arrest or locate the stolen car.
