A Virginia woman who was the victim of a car crash had allegedly stolen the vehicle of a Good Samaritan who stopped by the scene to assist victims including her.
The bizarre incident occurred on October 3 when Markell Hancox took advantage of the chaos that followed the car crash to jump into a witness’ SUV.
She later pulled into a nearby parking lot after discovering that the stolen vehicle had five small children inside it.
The car’s owner was able to reach the SUV and apprehend Hancox as she fled the scene on foot.
His children were “extremely shaken but unharmed during the incident,” the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Hancox was charged with five counts of second-degree kidnapping, larceny of a vehicle, and leaving the scene of the accident. Her bond was set at $210,000.
