Yet another postal worker had been killed this week, this time in Colorado, as he delivered mail at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Longmont Police said.
The victim was standing in front of mailboxes when he was targeted and repeatedly shot. He died at the scene.
Police announced Thursday the arrest of 26-year-old Devan Schreiner on first-degree murder charges. She was reportedly the victim’s ex-girlfriend.
She was initially described as wearing all-black clothes, a blue face mask, and a hoodie. Witnesses reported seeing her running away after the incident.
“You see us in your neighborhoods. We see your children grow up. We become part of your family, too,” US Postal Service Manager Davis Rupert said.
Rupert added that the shooting was “an isolated incident” according to police. Postal employees have been provided with grief counseling.
