Georgia authorities revealed at a Friday press conference that the 33-week pregnant mom-of-5 found dead off a local highway was killed by her married soldier boyfriend.
29-year-old Akeila Ware suffered multiple gunshots when she was discovered off Highway 18 last Tuesday.
“I went to the scene and could not believe that somebody had shot and killed a young mother of five children, on top of that she had a baby inside of her and resulted in the death of that baby,” Troup County Sheriff James Woodruff said.
“I personally went to the home of her father and had to deliver this news that your daughter is dead.”
“That’s terrible news to have to hear from anybody, especially when it’s one of your children and grandchild.”
Woodruff added that Alonzo Dargan Jr. is the main suspect in Ware’s murder. He was identified as a married Fort Bragg soldier and Ware’s current boyfriend.
The 30-year-old was since arrested and charged with murder, feticide, and the possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
