A Colorado father convicted of killing his teen son back in 2012 was sentenced Friday after displaying no remorse for his crime.

La Plata County District Court Chief Judge Jeffery Wilson cited Mark Redwine’s little remorse for the 2012 slaying of 13-year-old Dylan during a court-ordered visit and sentenced him to 48 years in jail.

The boy’s remains were discovered near Redwine’s home the following year and his skull was located in 2015 by a group of hikers.

Dylan’s relationship with his dad was only getting worse during the few years that preceded the slaying with the teen telling several people that he was terrified of visits to his home.

Redwine’s defense was that he left Dylan alone, went shopping then returned home to realize the boy was missing. His attorneys claimed that the victim may have wandered away from the house and killed by wild animals.
