Texas authorities are investigating a freak accident that claimed the life of a 10-year-old boy who was crushed to death during a rodeo competition over the last weekend.
Legend Williamson was riding his pony in the Texas Junior High Rodeo at the Beauregard Parish Covered Arena when the animal suffered a sudden medical episode and fell on Williamson.
The boy was declared dead at a hospital while the horse’s cause of death remains under investigation, though it is believed to be the result of a brain aneurysm or a heart attack.
The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Detective Sylvester Denmond expressed his condolences adding that “our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and the rodeo community.”
