‘Terrific’ Utah football player, 21, gunned down at house party

A talented Utah football player was gunned down at an early Sunday house party at the age of 21 leaving his team, fans, and law enforcement “deeply saddened” by the loss.

Aaron Lowe was shot and killed at around 12:20 a.m. at a party in the Sugar House neighborhood. A female victim sustained critical injuries in the same incident.

“The Salt Lake County Police Department grieves with and offers our condolences to the Lowe family and the University of Utah community,” Police Chief Mike Brown said.

    “Aaron was a great teammate, friend, brother, and son and was loved by anyone who crossed paths with him.”

    University Athletic Director Mark Harlan described the late sophomore cornerback as “a terrific young man, a leader on our football team, and a rock of resiliency and courage.”
