HS football game halted in Alabama after shooting outside stadium leaves one wounded

Players and fans ran for their lives when gunshots rang outside the stadium where Fairfield was hosting the Jackson-Olin High School football team Friday night.

The game was in overtime at around 9:30 p.m. when shots were fired from an area near an abandoned home, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Sgt. Joni Money said.

    There were no suspects in police custody as of Saturday morning. The game was set to resume the following afternoon at Fairfield stadium.

    Fairfield was on the lead with 26 to 20 when the incident forced the game's suspension.
