Massachusetts news, US news.

Officials at UMass Amherst are investigating heinous incidents against Black students who had been receiving racist emails in recent weeks.

Vice-Chancellor and Chief Diversity Officer Nefertiti Walker described the emails as “vile, blatantly racist, and violently offensive” and have been previously reported last year.

“These anti-Black racist acts run in stark contrast to who we strive to be, which is a campus where all students are welcomed and feel a strong sense of belonging.”

Those who received the emails posted them to Facebook and said that they were sent from someone with the pseudonym “Derek Vinn” with the signature “UMass coalition for a better society, an organization that doesn’t exist.

“I’m officially exhausted. I don’t know if I’ll finish this last year. Just someone get me out of here,” a student wrote.
