Mom and toddler leap to death from Petco Park 3rd story hours before Padres-Braves game

San Diego authorities are investigating the deadly fall of a mom and her toddler that occurred at the Petco Park Saturday afternoon, hours before the Padres-Braves game.

The unidentified woman, 40-year-old, and her 2-year-old fell six stories from the stadium’s third level and were pronounced dead roughly 20 minutes afterward.

  • “It’s a tragic event,” San Diego Police Lt. Andra Brown said. “We feel horrible for the families and our hearts obviously go out to the family members, but also the people here that potentially could be traumatized.”

    Brown added that detectives spoke with the toddler’s dad to try to determine a motive for the incident.

    “We do not know the circumstances surrounding it. We do not know if it was accidental or intentional.”
