Texas authorities have started a homicide investigation after a woman gunned down a suspicious individual standing behind her window late Friday.

The woman told detectives that she feared the man peeping into her bedroom would break into the home and attack her when she retrieved a rifle.

Houston Police Lieutenant R. Willkens said that the woman, who has not been identified, fired several shots through the wall hitting the man who stepped back briefly before ultimately collapsing.
