Falls Church news, Virginia news.

An elderly Virginia father was killed, burned, and buried in his backyard last week at the hands of his 19-year-old son in an atrocious crime that shocked the Falls Church community where the pair lived.

On Monday, the Fairfax County Coroner positively identified human remains found at Truman Nguyen’s backyard as his and determined that he died from multiple stab wounds to the upper body.

By that time, authorities had already apprehended the 78-year-old victim’s son Philip Nguyen and charged him with murder.

The killing is the fifth in Fairfax County involving a child or sibling since the beginning of the year.

“There’s not a string of commonality running through the increase in murders that we have this year beyond the fact that we have sons who are in some type of dispute with a parent, and on one occasion a sister and that dispute results in a murder,” Chief Kevin Davis said.
