The lawyer of Alex Murdaugh said Sunday that he had been shot while changing a tire on a rural route Saturday afternoon.
The scion of a family of South Carolina prosecutors had lost his wife Maggie, 52, and son Paul, 22, to a June double-homicide that remains unsolved.
The 53-year-old’s attorney Jim Griffin said that while changing a tire on Old Salkehatchie Road in Hampton County, Alex was shot in the head by a passing truck.
“There’s a long list of people they rubbed the wrong way, that’s for sure,” a source close to the wealthy family said insinuating to the scores of people they prosecuted or sued throughout the years.
“The Murdaugh family has suffered through more than any more family could ever imagine. We expect Alex to recover and ask for your privacy while he recovers.”
