A Colorado woman, who vanished around two weeks ago, has been found dead and buried in a hidden tomb over the last weekend.
21-year-old Cheyenne Goins was reported missing on August 12. Her remains were located about 225 miles southwest of Denver in a grave.
El Paso County authorities have declared Goins’ death a homicide but did not reveal further details surrounding the death, citing the ongoing probe.
The person of interest in Goins’ murder, identified as 33-year-old Lucas Antonio Salas Jr., was gunned down Wednesday during a confrontation with police.
“The suspect produced a firearm and shots were exchanged. The suspect was struck by gunfire and was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead,” police said.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
