Florida cop dies of Covid; Fifth fatality among state law enforcement in one week

Florida authorities are mourning the loss of one of theirs who had passed on August 20 from Covid complications.

The death of 43-year-old Sergeant Patrick Madison is the fifth among law enforcement members in Florida due to Covid in the course of a single week.

The 15-year veteran was a decorated Coral Springs Police Department officer. He is survived by his mom, son, and two siblings.

  • “Pat’s death is tragic and untimely; he was taken from us way too early,” Coral Springs Police Chief Clyde Parry said.

    “Announcing the death of one of our members is the hardest thing I have had to do as Chief of Police.”

    “Especially when that member had a tremendous impact on our organization, and a bright future ahead of them,” he added.
