Alabama high school senior dies from Covid; first reported fatality among students this school year

A Cullman City, Alabama high school student has passed away from Covid earlier this week to become the first reported case among school children since the beginning of the year’s term.

17-year-old Will Fowler died Tuesday, according to his cousin’s statement. He suffered from muscular dystrophy but was by all accounts an outstanding student.

“It didn’t stop him. He excelled in academics and loved being in the Cullman Bearcat Marching Band where he was the percussion front lines section leader.”

    The decedent was a National Honor Society member and played in his Middle School Band for a couple of years and then for three years in the high school band.

    “The lessons we’ve learned from Will are those of perseverance, dedication, kindness, and commitment,” HS Principal Kim Hall said.

    “His life and memory stand as an inspiration for us all, as we should all try to live like Will, every day. He will be deeply missed.”
