An Alabama mom is left in outrage after the death of her 10-year-old son that could easily be prevented did the court take emergency action in a protection hearing she filed against her child’s dad.
Harvest resident Brian Buening took his own life on August 6 after gunning down his son Tate during a court-ordered visitation that mom Kayla White fought hard to prevent.
White filed for an emergency protection order against Buening at the Madison County Circuit Court and voiced out her fears over Tate’s safety with his dad.
“The hearing date was set a month later. A MONTH,” the mourning mom wrote on Facebook. “An emergency hearing shouldn’t take that long.”
“In the meantime, I had to abide by the papers and send him back. I shouldn’t have had to do that.”
The mom said that she did her best to hide her request prior to the child’s visit with Buening because she feared he would be angered and do the irreparable.
“I was meticulous to keep it a secret and play nice until he would be served on this past Friday after I picked Tate up. But somehow he found out while he had my baby.
Court records revealed that Buening had attempted to put an end to his life twice and suffered from PTSD, depression, anger, and alcohol addiction.
