San Bernardino Police officers have to fire shots at a 13-year-old boy who had falsely claimed killing three people during a standoff at a local cemetery Thursday.
The teen was holding a handgun with an extended magazine at the Pioneer cemetery when he called 911 to make the fictitious confession.
Police officers responded to the scene at around 1:52 p.m. and heard several shots being fired.
The boy kept firing after police arrival and ignored all commands prompting officers to fire at him.
Witness Nataly Lopez filmed the ordeal on her cellphone. She said that she was worried the boy or cops would fire at her home and hurt her children.
“When I see him, I think of my kids. I’m like what is he doing? Where are his parents?”
“It’s scary because you don’t know what they’re going to do. There’s a school right across the street. Sometimes, there are a lot of kids playing outside.”
He was rushed to an area hospital and received treatment. Detectives found that the teen had four additional magazines, and “a large cache of ammunition” suggesting he planned a “prolonged confrontation.”
