California mom arrested after killing newborn on day of birth; tossing body outside home

A California woman is being held without bond after the tragic murder of her newborn baby boy found dead outside her Santa Clara residence on August 2.

Jennifer Tupper’s friend called 911 to report that she had given birth to a dead baby at home and needed medical assistance.

Fire and Police officers rushed to the 2000 block of Leghorn Street home to find the baby’s body outside the residence.

The 31-year-old mom was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Autopsy results showed that the boy was born alive the same day he was killed and had sustained significant injuries.

  • “She made varying statements that were somewhat consistent with what she told, with what the fried told us but there were also several inconsistencies as well,” Sgt. David Fisher said.

    Mountain View Police Chief Chris Hsiung described the case as tragic for the entire community.

    “We are devastated by this news, and we are grieving with the community on the loss of this baby’s life.”

    “The situation could have been a lot different if the baby was turned over to the fire department. To think of what could have been is hard to bear as well.”
