The Alabama Police Department is mourning the untimely loss of a beloved officer who died of Covid at the age of 29 on Tuesday.
Maurice “Reese” Jackson died from the illness after losing his battle with the deadly virus and its complications.
“Maurice was a good man; one of a kind and he will be dearly missed here at the department,” a Facebook post said.
“Anyone that knew him knows he was full of life, always having a big smile on his face.”
“Please keep his wife, children, family members, and the Robertsdale Police Department family in your thoughts and prayers as we all try to navigate through this difficult loss.”
Covid hospitalizations in Alabama reached over 900 patients on July 27, nearing last summer’s peak. State Health Officer Scott Harris said that the slope of the rise was just “unprecedented.”
“This upward trend is extremely concerning, especially with the Delta variant being highly infectious and much more transmissible than earlier strains.”
“Getting vaccinated is the best action you can take to protect yourself and those around you.”
