Georgia authorities have charged a 19-year-old Alamo resident with second-degree murder and child cruelty for leaving her infant son to drown while she was high on meth last June.
Ansley Nicole Brantley and her 10-month-old son were in the bathtub at her mother’s home on June 9 when she fell asleep after using drugs.
The suspect’s mom, Kelli Gordon, told detectives that she went checking on the pair several times “since she had been in the bathroom for some time” but got only mumbled answers.
“About 10 or 20 minutes later, Ansley started screaming. The mom got up and went to Ansley as she was holding the infant and said he can’t breathe, what do I do.”
The baby was “blue and cold” and all attempts to revive him went futile. A search of the home revealed unspecified amounts of meth.
Both Gordon and Brantley were arrested and booked into the Coweta County Jail.
