Toddler, 2, fells to death from father’s arms on Aurora mall escalator

An Aurora toddler has fallen to his death from his father’s arms while riding an escalator in the Town Center over the weekend.

The 2-year-old boy slipped from his dad’s arms as they were on the escalator at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

First responders rushed to the scene to find the unresponsive child lying on the ground. Preliminary investigation showed the fall was “accidental.”

  • “I was in one of the shoe stores and I heard a lot of screaming, I heard a lady screaming, then out of nowhere the shop owner ran outside,” a witness said.

    “He was on the phone, I heard him saying that something happened, and he couldn’t close the store because he had guests. And then he looked at me, he told me what happened that a little kid fell off the escalator.”

    Another horrified shopper added: “It’s just a reminder for parents, even if you are holding onto your kids going down the escalator; you can never be too safe.”
