A Virginia corrections officer was fatally shot earlier this month and authorities arrested his 50-year-old wife Monday and charged her with murder.
Mary Huskey Palmer stands accused of shooting dead her 38-year-old husband Arthur “Woody” Woodrow Palmer III on July 3 at their Narrows home.
The decedent had worked for 11 years as a jail officer and was described by the New River Valley Regional Jail superintendent as a “terrifically positive” and “quality corrections officer who was well respected by his peers.”
“This is an ongoing investigation being handled by the Narrows Police Department, the Giles County Sheriff’s Office, and the Virginia State Police.”
Palmer leaves behind a young daughter. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
