Houston news, Texas news.

The surviving victim of a Thursday night murder-suicide in downtown Houston told detectives that the gunman who shot her and killed her husband did not know them.

Police initially said that Danny Cazares, 39, seemed to target the couple dining at Downtown Aquarium restaurant at around 8 p.m.

Surveillance footage caught the gunman walking over to the couple sitting across the bar from him “in a very quick manner.”

Cazares produced a gun and fired several shots at Gabriel Moriones Vargas, 28, and his 24-year-old wife, killing him at the scene.

Houston Police Executive Chief Matt Slinkard added that the scene was “horribly tragic.”

“This is the type of situation that should make us all pause and send out as many prayers as we can, for all of the families and all the lives that will be affected by such a tragic incident like this.”
