Texas authorities are looking for the driver who fled the scene of a deadly crash after hitting a suicidal teen late Monday.
Harris County authorities said that a 15-year-old girl jumped out of her mom’s car while she drove on Interstate 45 amid an argument.
The teen was then struck by a vehicle that left her dead on the road. The driver of that car remains at large for leaving the crash scene.
“A lot of folks were very traumatized with what happened,” Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Gilliland said.
“Obviously nothing worth that,” he added.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted that the 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We need to find that person and find out what happened,” Gilliland said. “Maybe they didn’t realize, but once they did strike the girl, they should’ve realized it was a body and not debris or something.”
“You may not have had time to stop, but once you run over a person, you really should stop.”
