Ga. Boy, 6, drowns in Florida beach while on family vacation

After more than 24 hours after he vanished, authorities announced that a 6-year-old boy had been found dead in Panama City Beach Tuesday.

Enrique Cortez-Dubon was on a vacation with his family in Florida Monday when he vanished prompting an extensive search involving local authorities and residents.

His body would later be spotted on waters by a passerby at around 4 p.m. Tuesday. His identity was confirmed and his family informed.

  • “We are saddened to report the body of 6-year-old Enrique Cortez-Dubon has been recovered between public beach accesses 21 and 22 on Surf Drive,” a statement from the city officials reads.

    “This is approximately 1.5 miles east of where he was last seen more than 24 hours ago. Our condolences go to the family.”

    Police added: “The 6-year-old appears to have drowned. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”

    Enrique, aka Richalo, was last seen behind the Shores of Panama condominium where his Georgia family stayed.
