New Haven news, Connecticut news.

New Haven Police arrested two people after a 2-year-old child grabbed a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at officers last month.

It was revealed Saturday that on June 25 at around 5:30 a.m., police swarmed a Dayton Street home investigating drug possession reports.

“During the investigation, a 2-year-old pointed a semi-automatic handgun with a red laser attachment at detectives, that was left unattended on a bed,” Officer Scott Shumway said.

“Detectives were able to secure the handgun without incident. The Department of Children and Families was notified and responded to the scene.”
