Miami news, Florida news.

Defeated and disappointed, Miami-Dade rescue crews described Thursday how they could hear trapped people’s screams but could do nothing to help.

More than a week after the tragic collapse of the Champlain Towers South Building in Surfside, Miami, only 18 people were officially declared dead while over 150 remain under the rubble.

  • In an emotional confession, Miami-Dade County Fire Chief Alan Cominsky revealed how hard search crews worked to reach a trapped victim who kept screaming for long hours before she vanished.

“Eventually, we didn’t hear voice anymore…we continued to search. And again, that’s emphasizing the magnitude of what we’re going through.”

“The efforts that all of our fire and rescue personnel, everyone that is here on the scene, trying to do the best we can in these heroic efforts. Unfortunately, we didn’t have success,” Cominsky said.
