Paraguay awaiting word on First Lady’s relatives still unaccounted for after Miami condo collapse

Among dozens of missing people still unaccounted for following the Florida building collapse, five relatives of Paraguay’s First Lady have been identified.

Paraguay Foreign Minister Euclides Acevedo said that President Mario Abdo and his wife Silvana are desperately awaiting word on their relatives and a staff member believed to have been in the doomed 12-story condo.

Sophia Lopez Moreira, Silvana’s sister, her husband, and her three children remain unaccounted for in addition to assistant Lady Luna.

  • “Before leaving home she asked me for my blessing,” Luna’s mom said. “As a mother, I have no consolation because they do not give me information about my daughter.”

    Rescue teams have pulled 35 people from the rubble while more than 99 others are believed to be still trapped beneath debris. A third of the unaccounted for are believed to South American natives.

    “We are working with the consulates of several countries in LATAM to help them obtain visas for the members of the families of the victims who need to travel to the US,” Fla. Sen. Marco Rubio tweeted in Spanish.
