Parts of the American southwest are living under record-breaking temperatures that are expected to last until Sunday.

In Phoenix, Arizona the heatwave sent temperatures to 115 degrees (46 C) yesterday while the forecast for the next couple of days predicts a record of 117 (47C).

The National Weather Service added that parts of California, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada will endure the heat trend for at least the remainder of this week.
