An Arkansas inmate who pleaded earlier this month to capital murder of wife has been found dead in cell shortly after complaining of stomach pains.
37-year-old Marco Clark was pronounced dead at a Jonesboro hospital after being found unresponsive in his Craighead County Jail cell Wednesday.
Clark was scheduled to be transferred to the state prison system the following day, authorities said.
Shortly before his death, he told a guard that he suffered stomach pains.
The officer noticed that Clark was profusely sweating and rushed to get oxygen and check his blood pressure before he collapsed.
On June 2, Clark pleaded guilty to capital murder in connection with the 2019 death of Melinda Colburn. He was sentenced to life.
An autopsy is being conducted at the state Crime Lab in Little Rock to determine an official cause of death.
