An Emmy-awarded and veteran Birmingham TV anchor has taken his own life early Saturday, police said.

Hoover officers rushed to a Scout Trace home at around 8:13 a.m. to find a dead Christopher Sign.

The 45-year-old’s death is being probed as a suicide, Hoover Police Lt. Keith Czeskleba confirmed.

Sign was a journalist and newsman, who covered countless stories including the Brookwood mine disaster, hurricanes, Phoenix officers’ double-murders, and Former President Bill Clinton’s secret tarmac meeting.
