Denver Sheriff’s deputy, 33, dies of Covid days after posting anti-vax thoughts

A 33-year-old Denver Sheriff’s deputy and father to 3-year-old son had passed away Wednesday of Covid-19 days after he shared anti-vax videos and photos on his social media account.

Daniel “Duke” Trujillo was a former Marine and 7-year veteran had just been appointed as The VP of the Denver Sheriff Latino Organization.

“We ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers and respect their privacy. We also ask that you pray for the members of our Department as well.”

The late Denver deputy had a Facebook profile photo that read “I have an immune system” that he uploaded earlier this month.

  • Before it, Trujillo’s profile banner read “I don’t care if you’ve had your vaccine.”

    He also repeatedly promoted a TikTok video that criticized vaccination against the viral illness and those who did get the jab.

    The last Instagram post of Trujillo stated: “Before you shame me in public for not having a mask, ask yourself one simple question. Will this mask stop an uppercut?”

    Trujillo is the second Covid-19 fatality this month within the Denver Sheriff’s Office after the passing of 51-year-old Deputy James Herrera on May 16.
