Texas mom shot from behind by estranged husband as she prepared 3 daughters for school

A San Antonio mom-of-three was fatally shot from behind Monday morning as she made her daughters ready for school.

Samantha Lopez, 28, was gunned down shortly after 7 a.m. as she left the home with her 2, 6, and 10 years old daughters.

Authorities said that they’ve arrested a suspect and relatives identified him as Lopez’s estranged husband.

Rosemary Gonzales, the victim’s mom, said that Lopez had obtained a restraining order against the man she described as “a coward.”

  • “I lost a daughter, and that is hard. A big ole’ demon came and did what he did and destroyed a family.”

    She continued: “A coward doesn’t shoot from behind and once she is down and shoot her again. That’s awful, that is an awful death for her.”

    Police confirmed the suspect had been arrested several times after violating the protective order Lopez had filed against him.
