New York City news, New York news.

A New York makeup artist passed away Sunday at a Dominican Republic hospital where she reportedly underwent plastic surgery on some of her body parts.

Daily News and local media sources reported that 30-year-old Jesmy Tapia suffered postoperative infection and was put in unit care following breast surgery in her native country earlier this month.

Dominican authorities have not publicly provided further information regarding the circumstances surrounding Tapia’s death.

Her relatives and loved ones kept denying rumors that she died from anemia:

The mother-of-two traveled to the Dominican Republic with an acquaintance who also underwent the same procedure but remained in good health, Daily Mail reported.

“In a case like Jesmy’s, in which women who arrive in perfect health to undergo esthetic procedures lose their lives, there is always curiosity, one that arises naturally in people’s imaginations and another that originates from those who feel threatened for their lack of commitment, ethics, and human qualities,” Tapia’s aunt said in a statement.

The late makeup artist and nurse is survived by her two children, ages 3 and 6-year-old.
