Hit-and-run suspect at large after body of missing 16-year-old Miami girl found in bushes

Miami Police are searching for the driver of a gray vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident that cost the life of a 16-year-old girl Saturday.

The family of Dayana “Diani” Gomez Sanchez first reported her missing late Saturday when she didn’t return home from his morning run.

Her mother called the police and relatives after she returned home from work. The teen’s uncle was the one who located her body the following day while posting flyers and looking for her.

  • He said that Diani’s cell phone and shoes were the first things he spotted before finding her body in nearby bushes.

    “I was screaming ‘Get up Diani! Get up! Please get up!” he said.

    Miami Police Chief Art Acevedo urged people with information about the gray vehicle that would have sustained “significant windshield damage” to call the homicide unit at 305-603-6350.

    “Anyone that has seen a gray vehicle or knows anyone that has a gray vehicle that has disappeared to let us know – body shops, window repair,” he said.
