Oakland Birthday Shooting: 2 killed, several injured when up to 30 shots targeted packed party bus

Two people were killed and several others injured when a shooting suspect targeted a party bus early Tuesday morning.

One of the victims was identified as a 19-year-old woman from Stockton. She was among a crowd of young people partying inside the bus on eastbound Interstate 580 between MacArthur Bvd. and Seminary Avenue.

At around 12:23 a.m., a suspect fired more than 30 shots into the bus where a 21-year-old woman was celebrating her birthday.

  • “The father of a woman celebrating her 21st birthday on the party bus in East Oakland tonight said his daughter was shot in the leg but is in stable condition,” according to a local report.

    “His other daughter was on the bus when the shooting happened. She is also stable.”

    At least six more partygoers were rushed to hospitals. An investigation was launched by the California Highway Patrol.
