Colorado Police arrest husband of woman missing for one year, confident ‘she is not alive’

Chaffee County news, Colorado news.

One year after she went missing, Suzanne Morphew’s husband has been arrested on first-degree murder charges despite the fact that her remains were never found.

Prosecutor Linda Stanley said that the Chaffee County District Attorney’s Office and investigators are now confident 53-year-old Barry Morphew killed his 49-year-old wife and hid her body.

“We believe that she is not alive,” Sheriff John Spezze said. “We’ve filed first-degree murder charges – or are in the process of filing first-degree murder charges – so our belief is that Suzanne is not alive at this time.”

She continued: “For me, today is a good day. But for my office, this is where the work begins. There’s more work to be done.”

Suzanne went missing on Mother’s Day last year and the search for her included more than 135 search warrants, 400 questionings, and 1,400 tips.
