The search for a missing beauty queen ended Thursday with the recovery of a body believed to be hers from a lake she was last seen wandering around.
Lashun Massey’s husband reported her missing on Tuesday at 7:40 a.m. He told police that she did not return home from her morning jog.
“So at about 7:15, I got a little nervous and I texted her,” he said. “I gave her a call and she didn’t answer so at the time I found our security guard down here and said that they had seen her or somebody over in the canal.”
The man added that his missing wife was very “cautious” around water bodies and set to compete for the Mrs. Texas America Thursday.
The mom-of-two talked about how “excited” she was to compete for a second title.
She added that despite some recent health issues, she still managed to “get healthy while achieving her educational and career goals.”
