US news.

President Joe Biden said during his first formal address to Congress Wednesday that he “inherited a nation in crisis” as he presented his “American Families Plan” and boasted his administration’s achievement throughout his first 100 days in office.

“We have stared into the abyss of insurrection and autocracy,” he said. “One hundred days since I took the oath of office – lifted my hand off our family Bible – and inherited a nation in crisis.”

“The worst pandemic in a century; the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression; the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War: One hundred days ago, America’s house was on fire. We had to act.”

But the funny moment of the speech was definitely when Sen. Ted Cruz was caught fighting back sleep after more than an hour listening to the President’s address.

“Ted Cruz is sleeping as soundly now as he did in the Ritz Carlton while Texans were freezing to death,” a Twitter user joked.

Another added: “When you demand to attend the Joint Session in person but you’d rather be in Cancun.”
