BioNTech CEO Ugur Sahin announced that studies revealed a need for a third shot of the Pfizer jab in order to boost the immune response that tends to get weaker over time.
Sahin explained that the efficiency of the Pfizer vaccine goes from 95% to 91% within the first six months after the first inoculation.

“Accordingly, we need a third shot to get the vaccine protection back up to almost 100% again,” he said.
“And then I expect it will probably be necessary to get another booster every year over perhaps every 18 months.”
Sahin insisted, however, that the Pfizer BioNTech’s vaccine showed a “promising” response to almost all existing variants of the coronavirus including the Britain strain.
