Arkansas authorities said that a 24-year-old man exterminated his seemingly happy family early on Sunday amid an argument with his wife.
David Wayne Priest turned the gun on himself after gunning down his 23-year-old pregnant wife Paiden Nicole Priest and her 2-year-old son Grayson Alexander Beckham.
“This is one of the worst cases that we’ve had to ever deal with,” Sgt. Jonathan Wear said. “But we do believe that this was done by David Priest.”
A neighbor sharing the Priests’ duplex called police at around 12:40 a.m. claiming that bullets pierced through his wall and hit his headboard while he slept.
Other neighbors were in shock over the murder-suicide and saddened to hear that Paiden, in her third trimester of pregnancy, and the toddler were killed.
“A couple of weeks back they were all playing outside,” one said. “The wife’s beautiful and she was so pretty and the child was so sweet, so kind.”
“No innocent life should be taken and a child not even born yet and a toddler – no life should be taken.”
