Ohio authorities said that the gunman who fatally opened fire at a Bob Evans restaurant Friday morning has been arrested following a lengthy manhunt that lasted 11 hours.
Richard James Nelson, 54, swarmed the restaurant in Canton, Ohio targeting his ex-girlfriend who waitressed there.
He reportedly shot Rebecca Jean Rogers several times as frightened diners “took cover under tables.”
The 38-year-old woman was mortally wounded and died at a local hospital. Police said that after shooting her, Nelson escaped before being caught in East Canton, late Friday.
“There was a history of domestic violence with the victim and the suspect in the past,” Canton Police Chief Jack Angelo told local reporters.
“This just shows how dangerous domestic violence is.”
Nelson faces aggravated murder charges. He is being held on a $2 million bond.
