Dallas authorities said that an 11-year-old boy had succumbed to a head gunshot wound he sustained while playing with two other kids earlier this week.
The victim was identified as Dazmon Brown Jr. He died at a local hospital last Sunday following the accidental shooting at a Walmart parking lot.
Brown’s mom said that she had left him in the care of his pal’s parents. That friend’s 9-year-old brother was the one who opened fire.
“The youngest brother I guess ended up getting it off the safety and shot my child in his head,” the mom said.
Dallas Police Department stated that it remains unclear whether the friend’s mom knew there was a gun inside the vehicle when she left the boys unattended and went shopping.
“When officers arrived at the location, they found an 11-year-old male with a gunshot wound. The complainant was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased.”
The statement continued: “The witness, a 32-year-old female, had parked her vehicle at the location and left the complainant and the 9-year-old male suspect alone in her vehicle while she went shopping. They found a handgun in the vehicle and shot the complainant.”
No charges were filed in connection with the shooting as the investigation proceeds.
