A Texas toddler has fatally shot his younger brother inside their Houston apartment home Friday morning.
The three-year-old boy found the gun and opened fire at his 8-month-old sibling, hitting him once in the abdomen.
Authorities said that four adults have been inside the home at the time of the shooting but none of them called the police and rather drove the infant to a nearby hospital.
“It was just one gunshot wound to the abdomen and unfortunately our little one is deceased,” Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Wendy Baimbridge said.
“I just want to take this moment and plead with parents and guardians all over to not allow your firearms to be accessible to anyone in the house.”
“Lock them up. There are things that you can do to render that weapon safe. Please pray for this family. This is a tragic event.”
